Welcome to ForgeDocs
Welcome to ForgeDocs
Section titled “Welcome to ForgeDocs”ForgeDocs is an all-in-one Astro theme that gives you three things in one project:
- Landing page — for marketing your product or service
- Documentation — powered by Starlight, Astro’s official docs framework
- Blog — with pagination, tags, and RSS feed
Instead of stitching three separate templates together, you get one codebase. One design system. One deployment.
This documentation will walk you through everything — from installing the project to deploying it on a live domain.
Who This Documentation Is For
Section titled “Who This Documentation Is For”This guide is written for two types of people:
Non-technical buyers — If you bought ForgeDocs and want to edit content, add pages, or deploy your site without writing code, start with the Getting Started section.
Developers — If you want to customize the theme, add features, or understand the architecture, jump to the Developer Guide.
You don’t need to be a developer to use ForgeDocs. Most content changes happen in Markdown and JSON files — no coding required.

What You Need Before Starting
Section titled “What You Need Before Starting”To run ForgeDocs locally, you need:
- Node.js 18 or newer — download here
- A code editor — VS Code is recommended
- A terminal — Terminal on macOS, PowerShell on Windows
To check if Node.js is installed, open your terminal and run:
node --versionIf you see v18.0.0 or higher, you’re ready.
Two Packages: Code Only vs Code + CMS
Section titled “Two Packages: Code Only vs Code + CMS”ForgeDocs comes in two versions:
Code Only ($79) — You get the full source code. Edit content directly in Markdown and JSON files using a text editor.
Code + Decap CMS ($129) — Everything in Code Only, plus Decap CMS pre-configured. Edit all content from a browser admin panel — no coding required.
If you’re not comfortable editing files, the Code + CMS package is the right choice. If you’re a developer, Code Only gives you full control.
